Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Portlore platform operated by Portlore Technologies Ltd ("Portlore", "we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales.
By creating an account or using Portlore, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
1. The Portlore service
Portlore is a social port discovery platform for cruise passengers. We provide port maps, Shore Quests, community lore, AI-generated itineraries, ship social matching, and subscription management. The platform is available as a Progressive Web App (PWA) accessible via browser.
2. Accounts
You must be 16 or older to create a Portlore account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@portlore.social if you suspect unauthorised access.
3. Subscriptions and payments
- Free tier: available to all registered users with no payment required.
- Cruise Pass (£4.99/sailing): a one-time payment covering one sailing window defined by your ship name and departure date.
- Explorer Pass (£29.99/year): an annual subscription covering unlimited sailings within the 12-month period.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Portlore does not store your card details.
- Subscriptions do not auto-renew unless you explicitly opt in to renewal.
- Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact hello@portlore.social within 14 days of purchase.
4. Community content
When you upload photos, tips, or lore to Portlore, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, reproduce, and distribute that content within the Portlore platform. You retain ownership of your content.
You must not upload content that:
- Is illegal, obscene, or harmful
- Infringes third-party intellectual property rights
- Contains personal data of others without their consent
- Is spam, misleading, or commercially motivated without disclosure
We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms and to suspend or terminate accounts of repeat offenders.
5. Acceptable use
You may not:
- Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from Portlore
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or access source code
- Impersonate other users, influencers, or Portlore staff
- Use the platform to harass, threaten, or harm other users
- Circumvent subscription restrictions or access controls
6. AI Port Planner
The AI Port Planner generates itineraries for general guidance only. Portlore is not responsible for the accuracy of AI-generated content. Always verify opening times, distances, and transport options before going ashore. You are responsible for returning to your ship on time.
7. Limitation of liability
Portlore is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, Portlore Technologies Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including missed ship departures, loss of access to port experiences, or reliance on community-generated content.
Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to Portlore in the 12 months preceding the claim.
8. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
9. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Portlore after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
